Humans and Chimps

Even with all the so called evidence supposedly showing chimps as our closest relative. I am not convinced for one if we evolved from chimps then why are there still chimpanzes around? should'nt we all be human now and we should find fossils of chimps in the ground? I think chimpsanzes are a evolutionary dead end that got as far as we know chimps now. Humans today must have evolved from another evolutionary path? maybe from extra terrestial origin but then mixed with apes or animals to develp on a unique way to become us.

  1. It does seem odd that chimps are still around if that is who we evolved from, although i do have a hard time imagining extra terrestrial were in the mix...then again, who really knows?

  2. While I am not from the Extra Terrestrial camp per se, I do find it very intriguing what the Shipibo and other Amazonian tribes have to comment on the topic. For example, if you look at the artwork in "Ayahuasca Visions" of ayahuasquero Pablo Amaringo, what we would describe as "flying saucers" are definitely readily apparent throughout his imagery. And these are representations of his actual ayahuasca experiences. I'll bring the book in to class for you to check out. Also, in Jeremy Narby's seminal work: "The Cosmis Serpent", there is an amazing detailed account of an ayahuasca journey, from none other than Foundation for Shamanic Studies' Michael Harner, stating that during his experience he was shown that life on earth was started by this extra terrestrial species that came to earth when their own planet was threatened. Further, in Michael's account, he goes on to say how he was shown what he experiences as 'reality' is actually a projection onto his mental screen of his mind done by these snakes that live in the base of his brain. Very trippy stuff...as they say. But, it is this account that leads Jeremy Narby to start to think about what ubiquitous substance it is that could be both outside and inside of us simlutaneously...and what he concludes is, is that substance is none other than DNA! So, then Narby starts down this track pulling together world cultural mythologies as well as genetic theory to see if this theory is even plausible. It's quite amazing how he then goes back into the artwork depicting ayahuasca journies and mines it for elements that could be construed as representations of molecular biology, including: cellular elements, chromosome and DNA. It is a fascinating read, if nothing else, and definitely food for thought.
